Product Media and Images

Images are one of the most important factors for converting visitors into buyers. Fenicia lets you upload, organize, and assign images to your products and variants quickly and easily.

Image management in the product edit form

Upload Methods

Fenicia offers two ways to upload images to your products:

Drag and Drop

Drag images from your computer directly into the product's upload zone. You can upload multiple images at once.

File Picker

Click the Upload images button to open your operating system's file picker and choose the images you want to add.

Direct cloud upload

Images are uploaded directly to cloud storage (S3), without base64 encoding. This ensures fast and reliable uploads, even with high-resolution images.

Formats and Limits

AspectSpecification
Accepted formatsJPG, PNG, WebP
Maximum size5 MB per image
Recommended minimum resolution1000 x 1000 px

Tip

WebP offers the best quality-to-size ratio. If your original images are in a different format, consider converting them to WebP before uploading.

Image Gallery

Once uploaded, images are displayed in a grid with numbered thumbnails (1, 2, 3...). The position determines the order in which they appear on your sales channels.

Main Image

The first image in the gallery (position 1) is used as the product's main image or hero image. This is what appears in:

  • Catalog listings
  • Search results
  • Marketplace previews
  • Shopping cart thumbnails

Reorder Images

Change the image order by dragging and dropping them. Simply grab a thumbnail and move it to the desired position. The position number updates automatically.

Tip

Place the most attractive and representative product image in the first position. This is what creates the first impression for your customers.

Alt Text

Each image has an alt text field that serves two important purposes:

  • Accessibility: Screen readers use this text for visually impaired users
  • SEO: Search engines use alt text to index your images

Configuring Alt Text

1

Select image

Click on the image you want to edit within the gallery.

2

Write alt text

Describe the image clearly and concisely. For example: "Navy blue crew neck t-shirt, front view".

3

Translate (optional)

If you sell in multiple languages, add alt text translations for each configured language.

A visual indicator shows which images already have alt text configured and which don't.

Accessibility

Images without alt text hurt your store's accessibility and may negatively impact your marketplace rankings.

Delete Images

To delete an image, click the delete icon on the thumbnail. You'll be asked for confirmation before permanently removing it.

Permanent deletion

Deleted images cannot be recovered. If the image is assigned to a variant, that assignment is also removed.

Per-Variant Images

When your product has variants with visual differences (like colors), you can assign specific images to each variant.

1

Upload all images

First, upload all product images to the main gallery.

2

Open the variant

In the variants section, click the variant you want to configure.

3

Assign images

Select which gallery images correspond to this variant. For example, assign the red t-shirt photos to the "Red" variant.

Tip

Images assigned to variants are automatically displayed when a customer selects that option in your store. This creates a more intuitive shopping experience.

Image Best Practices

Resolution and Quality

  • Minimum 1000 x 1000 px so images look sharp on all devices
  • Use square images (1:1) for consistency in listings
  • Keep quality high but optimize file size

Background and Composition

  • White background for the main image: this is the standard on most marketplaces (Amazon, MercadoLibre, Walmart)
  • Show the product from multiple angles: front, back, side, detail
  • Include at least one lifestyle photo showing the product in use

Recommended Quantity

Product typeSuggested images
Clothing and accessories5-8 (front, back, detail, model)
Electronics4-6 (product, ports, scale, packaging)
Home and furniture5-7 (product, room setting, dimensions, details)
Food3-5 (product, ingredients, usage)

Consistency

  • Use the same photography style for all products in a category
  • Keep lighting and angles consistent
  • Apply the same editing and color treatment

Channel synchronization

Images sync automatically with all your connected sales channels. Each marketplace applies its own cropping and resizing rules.
