Locations Setup

Locations represent the physical or virtual places where you store and manage your inventory. Properly configuring your locations is essential for stock tracking, order preparation, and shipping logistics.

Location management with types and statuses

Location Types

Fenicia supports different location types depending on your operational model:

TypeDescriptionExample
WarehouseStorage and distribution centerMain warehouse, distribution center
StorePhysical point of saleDowntown branch, Polanco store
OnlineVirtual location for online salesDefault online store
FBAFulfillment by AmazonInventory managed by Amazon
Mercado FullMercado Libre fulfillmentInventory in Mercado Libre warehouses

External locations

FBA and Mercado Full location types represent inventory stored by third parties. Fenicia automatically syncs quantities from these services but does not allow manual adjustments.

Creating a Location

1

Access the locations module

Go to Locations from the main menu and click New location.

2

Basic information

Define the name, location type, and an optional description to help your team identify it.

3

Address

Enter the full address including street, neighborhood, city, state, postal code, and country.

4

Additional configuration

Activate or deactivate the location and define whether it accepts inventory transfers from other locations.

Sub-areas and Zones (Places)

Within each location you can create sub-areas or zones to organize your inventory in greater detail:

  • Aisles — sections within a warehouse
  • Shelves — specific storage levels
  • Zones — themed areas (cold zone, returns zone)
  • Bins — exact storage positions

Tip

Sub-areas allow you to perform partial inventory counts by zone, speeding up the physical verification process.

Location Status

Each location can be in one of two states:

StatusEffect
ActiveAccepts inventory, appears in shipping and transfer operations
InactiveDoes not accept new inventory, does not appear in new operations

Deactivating a location

Before deactivating a location, make sure to transfer all existing inventory to another active location. Inventory in inactive locations is not available for sale.

Locations and Sales Channels

Sales channels connect to specific locations to determine where inventory is deducted when an order is received:

  • Each channel can have an assigned inventory location
  • When a product is sold, stock is deducted from the corresponding channel's location
  • You can configure multiple channels pointing to the same location

Impact on Other Features
