Shipping & Fulfillment

The shipping and fulfillment workflow lets you manage the entire order preparation process from one place: packaging, rate comparison, label generation, and shipment tracking.

Preparation view with package details, origin and destination addresses

Accessing Order Preparation

1

Open the order detail

From the orders list, click the order you want to prepare for shipping.

2

Click Prepare Order

In the order detail action bar, click the Prepare Order button. This takes you to the preparation page where you'll configure the full shipment.

Tip

Only orders with status Accepted or Preparing show the prepare button. If you don't see it, make sure the order has been accepted first.

Package Details

The first section lets you specify the physical characteristics of the shipment:

  • Length, Width, and Height — Package dimensions in centimeters
  • Weight — Total weight in kilograms (product + packaging)
  • Package type — Envelope, box, pallet, or other format
  • SAT code — Product code from the SAT catalog for customs declarations (required for international shipments)

Accurate dimensions matter

Enter the actual package dimensions. Carriers verify measurements and may apply additional charges if declared dimensions don't match the physical package.

Origin Address

Define the shipment's departure point. By default, Fenicia uses your primary warehouse address, but you can edit it if shipping from a different location.

  • Street and number
  • Neighborhood
  • City and state
  • Postal code
  • Location reference

Tip

If you manage multiple warehouses, you can change the origin address based on where the order's inventory is located.

Destination Address

Displays the customer's delivery address as captured at checkout. You can edit it if the customer requests a change.

  • Recipient name
  • Full address
  • Postal code with automatic neighborhood, city, and state lookup (Mexico)
  • Contact phone number

Postal code lookup

When entering a Mexican postal code, Fenicia auto-fills the neighborhood, municipality, and state using the SEPOMEX catalog.

Once the package and addresses are configured, you can request quotes from multiple carriers simultaneously.

How to Get Quotes

1

Verify package data

Confirm that dimensions, weight, and addresses are correct.

2

Request quotes

Click Get Shipping Rates. Fenicia queries available rates from all carriers configured in your account.

3

Compare options

Review the results table showing for each option:

  • Carrier and service level
  • Shipping price
  • Estimated delivery time
  • Coverage (domestic/international)

Tip

Quotes are sorted by price. Consider the balance between cost and delivery time based on your customer's expectations.

Carrier Selection

After comparing options, select the service that best fits the order. Click Select next to the chosen rate.

Factors to consider:

  • Price — Shipping cost
  • Delivery time — Estimated business days
  • Service level — Express, standard, or economy
  • Coverage — Verify the carrier covers the destination area

Generating a Shipping Label

1

Confirm your selection

Review the shipment summary with the selected carrier, service, and cost.

2

Generate the label

Click Generate Label. Fenicia creates the shipment with the carrier and obtains a tracking number.

3

Download the label

Choose your download format:

  • PDF — For standard paper printing
  • ZPL — For thermal label printers (Zebra and compatible)

Tracking number

Once the label is generated, the tracking number is automatically linked to the order and visible in the order detail for both you and your customer.

Shipment Confirmation

When the label is successfully generated:

  1. The order status changes to Shipped
  2. The tracking number is recorded on the order
  3. The customer is notified by email (if configured)
  4. The event is logged in the order timeline

Tracking

From the order detail you can monitor the shipment status:

  • Current status — In transit, out for delivery, delivered, etc.
  • Tracking URL — Direct link to the carrier's tracking portal
  • Updates — Package movement history

Tip

Fenicia automatically updates shipment status by polling carrier information. Update frequency varies by provider.

Scheduling a Pickup

If the carrier offers pickup service, you can schedule them to collect the package from your location:

1

Select date and time window

Choose the pickup date and time slot.

2

Confirm the address

Verify that the origin address is where the carrier should arrive.

3

Schedule the pickup

Click Schedule Pickup. You'll receive a confirmation with a pickup reference number.

Availability

Not all carriers offer pickup in all areas. If the option doesn't appear, you'll need to drop off the package at the nearest carrier location.

FAQ

Can I ship multiple packages for one order?

Yes. Repeat the preparation process for each package in the same order. Each one generates its own label and tracking number.

What happens if the dimensions are wrong?

The carrier may apply a volumetric weight adjustment and charge the difference. Measure the package accurately before requesting quotes.

Can I cancel a generated label?

It depends on the carrier and shipment status. If the package hasn't been picked up yet, cancellation is usually possible through the carrier's portal.
